Nov 9th Aaron Wolk, our Midwest Technical Rep, was featured as the guest speaker at the ICRI-Michigan Chapter’s Annual Meeting held at the Motor City Casino in Detroit. His presentation titled “True Teamwork in the Restoration Industry – Stories of Success” stems from his 20+ years of experience in the building restoration industry. Before becoming a technical rep, he cut his teeth as a mason in Pittsburgh and has been directly involved with the repairs and restoration efforts on hundreds of projects ranging from the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco to the Minnesota State Capitol.

October 26th – At our Mid Atlantic Resource Center, Kirstin Davis and Larry Burkhardt kicked off our first full day RTC “Masonry Restoration Training” class.  This will be one of many we will be holding with our partner Prosoco, who is headquartered in Lawrence, KS.  Through the newly formed Restoration Training Collaborative (RTC), we are bringing over 40 years of restoration industry know-how and training programs nation-wide.
October 26th –  The Connecticut ABC recognized Loom City Lofts for Excellence in Construction at its 15th annual awards ceremony in Southington, CT.
October 24th – Larry Burkhardt presented Façade Repair to the folks at Hartmann Cox Architects in Washington D.C. Did you know we now offer 12 AIA accredited courses ranging from 1 to 6.75 hours!
October 20th – Distributor Day at Columbus Coal & Lime in Columbus, OH.  Aaron Wolk was onsite answering questions from contractors and counter staff on all things Conproco.

September 19, 2017  – CONPROCO and PROSOCO have reaffirmed their commitment to product training and support for restoration professionals by co-founding the Restoration Training Collaborative (RTC).  The RTC will develop and host a continuous series of joint training programs for the restoration industry at nationwide locations.  See the press release.

2017 Trinity Award Winner – The Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island and The Seaside Park was featured on the cover of SWR Institute’s Applicator Magazine this month.  The 8 page article written by Preservation Architect Diane Kaese highlights the use of Conproco’s “sand colored Stucco” as the product of choice for the nearly 100 year old building’s exteriors walls.  See the full article here (reprinted with permission).

June 21st – Conproco is proud to be a supporting sponsor of one local library’s summer reading program “Build a Better World”  right around the corner at the Barrington Public Library.  We’re pleased to lend a helping hand and inspire the next generation to learn, grow, connect and create.  Here’s two of our own favorite library summer building (restoration) projects:  Morgan Libary (masonry) and the Worcester Public Library (concrete).
June 19th – We’re excited to share that the Loom City Lofts project in Rockville, CT was selected for an Excellence in Construction Award by the Connecticut Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. The project was selected as a winner by an independent panel of judges consisting of owners, architects and engineers and is a “testament to the work performed and your firm’s capabilities in the construction industry.”  The awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, October 26, 2017.

May 17-20th – Aaron Wolk and Jim Hunter joined forces at this year’s “Imagine the Power of Partnerships” – Michigan Historic Preservation Network Annual Conference at North Central Michigan College in Petoskey.  Click here to see their 2017 Member Directory which features a Conproco photo of ornate terra-cotta repairs done to the facade of the Burton School in Grand Rapids.

This month felt a little like March Madness for Masonry Professionals with a record number of trainings, trade shows and conferences happening from coast to coast!
  • Jim Hunter, our Michigan sales rep, kicked off the first full week of March (Feb 27th actually) sharing his deep industry and Conproco product knowledge at ICRI Michigan’s Demo Days in Detroit.
  • Larry Burkhardt and Kirstin Davis officially kicked off March on the 1st with an AIA Facade Repair workshop for 50 folks in Harrisburg, PA at MCACP‘s “Masonry for the Ages” event.
  • Lucky Larry also represented Conproco at SWR Institute’s Winter Technical Meeting in Huntington Beach, CA from March 5th-7th and proved he’s more than a master of masonry troubleshooting. He took home the top trophy for his sleuthing skills at the Murder Mystery event aboard the Queen Mary!
  • Concurrently, Conproco helped sponsor a “Concrete 101” event back on the east coast along with Genest and Maine’s CSI – (Construction Specifications Institute). Don Michaud and Corey Davis traveled to Gorham, ME to share some problem solving techniques for proper repair and quality control strategies on concrete.
  • Back at the home office, we welcomed Cathy Freeman to our Customer Service Team on International Women’s Day (March 8th) and have kept her busy in training on all things Conproco since.
  • When winter storm Stella hit the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions mid month, it didn’t deter Aaron Wolk and Larry B from delivering our half-day Matrix training out in the Midwest at Glenrock‘s Chicago and Milwaukee locations.
  • A week later, Kirstin and Larry took time to “Train-the-Trainers” at IMI’s Chicago branch on March 20th and 21st.
  • Meanwhile, Corey Davis represented ProMasonry in the New England market March 20th and 22nd by jumping in to Genest’s Boot Camp Event for Contractors at both Portsmouth, NH and Portland, ME locations.
  • Don, Larry and Aaron are back at it in Baltimore on March 23rd offering our SWRI validated Masonry Restoration Elements Full Day Training Class. This class is getting rave reviews and is newly AIA certified which will make it an even better investment for specifiers.
  • Believe it or not, Aaron and Larry are back at it in the Midwest leading another sold out, half day Matrix Certification class at Glenrock in Indianapolis on March 28th. Then it’s back to Chicago for the final event – Glenrock’s Annual “State of the Art Show“.

Conproco’s newly validated “Masonry Restoration Elements Training” received kudos and accolades from SWR Institute proctor Dave Moreland of The Witmer Group ~ Excellent training!! This 8hr class was by far the best training that I have been a part of since I have started my masonry career 20+ years ago! The crew at Conproco did a fabulous job organizing and performing the training. I also had the privilege to act as the proctor for this training thru SWRI. I would highly recommend it to anyone in or new to the industry! Great Job Larry (Burkhardt), Kirstin (Davis), Aaron (Wolk) and Don (Michaud)!

2017 TECHNICAL TRAINING ANNOUNCED – February and March are filling up with full and half day hands-on masonry restoration classes both at our Mid-Atlantic Resource Center (MARC) and across the Midwest at the Glenrock Company. We’ve also added a new hands-on training class this year titled “Protective Coatings – Hands On” for 1.5 LU/HSW AIA credits. Conproco’s Mid-Atlantic Resource Center (MARC) is getting BIGGER and BETTER!  During the month of May, we’ll be relocating our Baltimore training and warehouse facility to 8969 B Yellow Brick Road.  This new venue opens up more square footage for Hands On Masonry Training, AIA/CES Approved Courses, Product Demonstrations and our Advanced Color Matching Lab.

Conproco introduces ISR Deck Mix. ISR Deck Mix is a unique, highly crack resistant concrete developed by Conproco and its partners in an ambitious research project commission by the U. S. Navy.  The Navy requirements were to develop a repair material with a high resistance to cracking and maximize the use of recycled materials.   ISR or Internal Stress Relief technology is the result of a three-year laboratory and field effort. Every test for a repair material listed in the ACI/ICRI Data Sheet Protocol has been conducted by independent laboratories on ISR Deck Mix. The material handling characteristics are exceptional in that it can be placed up to a 8” – 9” slump without effecting material properties.

MARC is a multi-faceted facility offering hands-on educational programs for design professionals and contractors, state-of-the art color matching for all of our protective coatings and stone repair mortars, and AIA approved courses in a variety of masonry and concrete related topics.
All Conproco products will be available at MARC, and on-site color matching will significantly reduce turn-around time. Our contractor customers now have the option to place orders with our dealer partners and pick-up directly from us.
